How To Clean Gasket On Splendide Artisan Washer

Topic: Splendide Washer - sludge in gasket area & odour
Posted By: louiskathy on 09/26/10 12:44pm I had posted my answer to the detergent question and then decided I'd ask for aid in solving the sludge/odor trouble I've got in my washer.

I use a variety of HE but Whisk seems to be my favorite. I apply liquid fabric softener in every load. I accept a box of the Splendide powder laundry lather but don't use it as often as the liquid. What I should do is alternating using liquid and powder to see if it helps the aroma problem whatever. I'll beginning that today.

Nosotros total fourth dimension and I use those machines every other mean solar day if not every day. I've noticed an odor and did some looking. In that location was a build up of sludge (muddy wet dirt/mold?) in the gasket. Both where the water drains at the lesser of the gasket and between the gasket and the pulsate. I called Splendide and they told me to run a load on the wool setting every once in awhile. It seems to make full the drum with more than water. The higher water level goes through the gasket more. ?? Seems to be that mode to my eyes, anyway. I as well bought some of those HE washer cleaning tablets and am using them once a month. It'south getting better but there'southward still sludge in there. I'm iii months into trying to correct this subsequently using the machines for ii years.

I keep the washer door open between apply (unless nosotros're rolling the wheels)to help it dry out. I always use the spin/drain wheel when I'yard non going to use the machine again that twenty-four hours. I have noticed that h2o will somtimes still remain in the soap dispenser area even afterward the spin/drain bike is used...and I try to dry that out with a paper towel.

Practice Not put prophylactic backed rugs in the dryer. I've done them ok simply broke two dryer belts when they got stuck between the dryer fin and the wall of the dryer.
The first time was a fluke...the 2nd time was a lesson learned. Those belts are not cheap and replacing them is a existent pain.

I beloved having my own washer/dryer in the RV. Just wish I'd constitute this forum ii years ago.

Anyone accept these same bug...and what did you do to solve information technology??

Had a problem with the home unit putting what looked like grease on things, just cleaning the rubber door gasket solved the problem. If you wash your wallet you'll be surprised how many plastic cards will hibernate in the pulsate/gasket area. Could not meet whatever of the 8 that I finally fished out.
Washing rugs in the older 2000 units is not a skillful idea as it can go so out of balance that the drun hits the timer and kill it. On the 2100 the timer is entirely different and located where it cannot be hit.
This mail is my stance (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone'south judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

8?! Holy mackerel.

Posted By: Ivylog on 09/26/ten 07:21pm No, only three were credit cards: Pilot & Driver's License, Sam'southward menu, Old Farts laissez passer, VA menu, FlyJ RV card. Not plastic things stayed in the pulsate.
Posted By: Wanderlost on 09/27/10 01:43pm I use Affresh washer cleaner, and become it at Home Depot. Tide also makes a washer cleaner. Drop a cube into the washer drum, run information technology on normal with hot water, and you're good for another month.

Posted By: louiskathy on 09/27/10 06:34pm I wasn't reading whatsoever instant fix answers to my trouble and I didn't see how tossing my credit cards in there was going to assist except to never see them again so even though DH thought that would be well worth it, I tried a few other things and had some success.

In that location are a lot of grooves and hidden places in that gasket and my manus is not small-scale enough to get in there with a sponge or a rag to wipe at that sludge so I sprayed some DampRid Mold and Stain Remover on the gasket and allow it sit for an hour. So I washed some one-time jeans. It made a divergence I could meet correct away. Did it again. Sprayed the DampRid Mold and Stain Remover on the bottom of the gasket and between the gasket and the drum and washed some bath rugs.
Looking good. I was able to take an onetime hand towel and wipe most of the sludge upwards. That'southward the get-go time it even budged. Now I can see that in that location are three holes in the bottom of that gasket. I bet they are there so that the h2o can Bleed out of the bottom of the gasket. Duh. They were plugged with sludge.

I'yard thinking the in one case-a-month-tablets will work ameliorate now. AND I'm going to dry that gasket with a hand towel rather than permit it sit down wet for days between loads.

Posted By: Lemons750 on 09/27/10 08:42pm Hot h2o and vinegar should clear up the gunk.

I would only use liquid detergent and softener.

Mix both with i part detergent/ textile softener to 1 part vinegar.

You will find it cleans better and don't gunk up equally much.

I also add it to the shampoo and conditioner so my hair don't get greasy.
